New Impotence Drugs and How These Measure Up   
Versus The Impotence Drug Viagra

In 1998, the FDA approved the first drug for Impotence
(Viagra) - Since then, the number of men diagnosed with
Impotence in the United States has increased by over
250%. Because of this overwhelming increase in demand,
there is no wonder why two new Anti-Impotence drugs
have hit the market. These 2 new male Impotence drugs are
name Levitra and Cialis. Levitra offers a much smaller dose
compared to Viagra (10 milligrams compared with the 100
mg for Viagra) - On the other hand, the anti-Impotence drug
Cialis stays active in the body much longer than the other
two drugs. Cialis works for 24-36 hours compared to 4-5
hours for Viagra and Leitra. Cialis also works much faster.
Cialis works in 15-30 minutes compared with an hour for
Viagra. The three new male Impotence drugs do have many
similarities. All three Impotence drugs work by relaxing
smooth muscle cells in the penis and thereby widening
blood vessels for increased blood flow ability. None of the
Impotence drugs create an erection automatically, but they
make an erection possible with sexual arousal. Side effects
for these three new Impotence drugs are very similar and
may include heartburn, headaches and flushing. The FDA
strongly advises against mixing any Impotence drugs with
nitrate medications and/or alpha blockers. Just because
there are now three Impotence drugs to choose from, you
should carefully consider all option with your qualified doctor
because treatment options vary among male patients.

Drug Studies for Impotence Says Impotence Drugs      
Affect Other Systems and Mostly For The Better

Current studies so far suggest that Impotence drugs, called
phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors, produce some beneficial
results and not only for Impotence. Recently the FDA
approved a reformulation of sildenafil citrate, otherwise
known as Viagra, for the treatment of primary pulmonary
hypertension. While there are differences among the three
Impotence drugs, they have many similar properties.
Viagra, Cialis and Levitra all work by limiting the activity of
the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 which is found in tissues
and vessels of the penis, blood platelets and in the smooth
blood vessel muscles. For the treatment of Impotence, all
three drugs constraint of the enzyme's action results in
increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate and
nitric oxide. These are biochemicals which promote
increased blood flow and smooth muscle relaxation in
erectile tissue. Studies have shown that PDE-5 inhibitors
actually improve blood flow in all areas where there is a
blockage of an artery, thereby having a positive effect on
the heart muscle.
